CNTKD makes the headlines - the following is an extract that appeared in the South Wales Echo on the 27th January, 2012.
The Martial Art of Giving
Cardiff North Tae Kwon Do School has raised in excess of £3,100 for their charity of the year, The Stroke Association.
The fundraising partnership has been a huge success and events have varied from a martial arts demonstration at the iconic Millennium Stadium, completing The Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Pen y Fan, Cadair Idris and Snowdon in just 48 hours and lots of other fun filled activities.
In 2012, the school intend to take on even more challenges to raise funds, starting with a three-day kayak adventure on the River Severn.
Darren Johns, instructor at Cardiff North Tae Kwon Do School, said, "We are incredibly proud to have achieved so much in 2011. Working with The Stroke Association is one of our greatest achievements yet. Giving something back in to the community is important for us as Tae Kwon Do students.
"We, as a school, chose The Stroke Association as our charity to support in 2011 for many reasons. Stroke is one of the biggest killers in the UK and when you talk to people, it is incredible how many people have been affected or know someone who has been touched by this illness. My father has also suffered a serious stroke in the last two years.
"Cardiff North Tae Kwon Do School will support The Stroke Association again in 2012 when, I am sure, we will better last year’s total."
Bridget Stadden, Regional Fundraising Manager for Wales, said, "I’d like to thank the members and families of Cardiff North Tae Kwon Do for their fantastic support and for raising so much money in 2011. We are thrilled to be their chosen charity partner again for 2012 and look forward to another brilliant year!"
